happy so far

I'm not a computer tech or a gamer but i'm very happy with the performance. It boots up quick, runs apps smoothly. no issues with overheating, but again i'm not using the laptop at full capacity/gaming mode. battery life is good. Way better than my old HP laptop at graphics, videos, etc.

Could have been great…

I purchased this laptop for the beautiful OLED screen to use for on the go photo editing, with wnough of a graphics card to give it some power. Jf was great for that and the screen is indeed beautiful and orocessed my ohotos quickly. The issue is the battery life. I was getting at most 4 hours (and often times much less) even with battery saver turned on and just light web browsing. That was highly disappointing that the battery life was that bad with just basic light usage. On top of that, the MUX switch disabled the login on my laptop because it had to remove encryptiom every time it restarted. That caused me to have to completely reset the laptop from cloud recovery which didnt install all of the software and drivers. So i then had to download and install around 15 drivers from Asus support to get it running again. Between the battery life and the headache of not being able to enable device encryption if i want to use the MUX switch to force usage of the Nvidia GPU in certain situations, I decided just to return it.

Great laptop

Great laptop, beautiful screen, quick. Only downside is battery life is no where near advertised. When using just for web browsing, battery life in just over 2 hours.

Great Computer.

This was a gift for my wife for Mother’s Day to get her started on taking her rendering talents solo. So far this computer has been as amazing as advertised and more. From the graphics card to the processor, this computer has far exceeded my expectations.

A wonderful computing experience on the go

The best place to start is the screen on this laptop. OLED is a beautiful thing and at 15.6” the 2.8K 120 Hz color reproduction is gorgeous. Everything looks better in OLED. The trade-off though is that you need to be in a dark room to avoid the glare that inevitable means I see more of my face than I do of the screen in most office settings with this laptop. If you can adjust your lighting to account for this, you’ll love the visual experience with this screen. As an added bonus, the webcam built into the bezel includes an orange privacy screen that allows the webcam to be completely blocked simply by pushing a slider. It’s something I wish more laptop manufactures would provide as it’s becoming more difficult to trust the software side of webcams these days that yes, the camera is not broadcasting at all times. Weight and portability are all excellent and having both a SD Card reader and built in RJ-45 is a huge bonus for not having to carry around dongles to connect. The full-size HDMI 2.1 port is also wonderful for working with larger displays. The one design choice that is a bit frustrating for me is the inclusion of a dedicated number pad on the keyboard makes for a cramped typing experience if you have big fingers like I do. The laptop includes Windows touch ID support via a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button but with my big fingers and this very tiny button I find it works less than half the time I attempt to use it. The keyboard keys are responsive to the touch making it comfortable to type on for long periods and the trackpad works as one would expect. ASUS did not design the laptop to be easily upgraded, requiring far too many pieces of the laptop to be removed in order to get access to the hard drive slot. The laptop maxes out at 16GB of RAM via a single SO-DIMM, and its buried under far too many parts to be replaced easily. On the plus side the RAM is 4800Mhz DDR5, I just wish there was a second slot allowing 32GB. Overall I’m impressed with how much technology Asus has been able to build into such a tiny laptop and think this makes for a wonderful computing experience on the go.
